Password Day: Empower your Workforce Through Best Practices

Behavior Change, Information Security Awareness

Password DayHappy Password Day!

Terranova wants to take this opportunity, Password Day, to highlight the importance of talking with your employees about password safety. Cybercriminals strive to infiltrate our networks. And weak passwords are a way in. Empowering your employees via password literacy is an excellent way to teach best practices for password creation and continue the overall discussion about information security awareness.

To celebrate Password Day, let’s take some time to review best practices. Shall we?

1. Your password should be at least 8 characters long and include letters, numbers, and symbols.

2. Create a passphrase by joining different words, making it harder for cybercriminals to guess your password.

3. Do not share your password, that includes colleagues from the helpdesk.

4. Each system requires a distinct password. Do not reuse passwords.

With the right tools and training, your workforce becomes your strongest link. Help them achieve such a standing by engaging them in your cybersecurity awareness initiative. Password Day is an interesting way to start the conversation and add value to your overall security awareness program!

Instill long-term behavioral change!

Behavioral change involves a spectrum of factors, including the culture of an organization, the motivation stemming from both workforce and leaders, as well as the selection of learning opportunities that are made available to each member.
